Groups and Lists#
PilotPoster syncs your Facebook groups through the Chrome extension. You pick which groups to include in each campaign.
Fetching groups#
Click Fetch Groups in the dashboard or Groups page. The extension pulls every group you are a member of from Facebook.
Groups you leave on Facebook will disappear on the next refresh. New groups appear after you join them on Facebook and refresh.
Group refresh interval#
Set an auto-refresh interval in Settings. PilotPoster re-fetches your group list on that schedule so new memberships stay in sync.
You can also trigger a manual refresh anytime with Fetch Groups.
Manual group selection#
When creating a campaign, pick individual groups from the synced list. This works well for:
- Testing a new group before adding it to a list
- One-off posts to specific communities
- Small campaigns with 1 to 3 groups
Saved group lists#
Create named lists to reuse the same group set across campaigns.
- Go to Groups in the dashboard
- Create a new list and name it (e.g. "Local Business Groups")
- Add groups to the list
- When creating a campaign, select the list instead of picking groups one by one
Lists save time when you post to the same groups weekly or daily.
Profile posting#
Some campaigns can target your Facebook profile (personal timeline) instead of a group. Enable this in the Groups step of the campaign wizard.
Profile posts follow the same scheduling and media rules as group posts.
Group approval requirements#
Some groups require admin approval before posts appear publicly. PilotPoster logs these as pending approval rather than failed. The post may still go live after a moderator approves it.
Tips#
- Review group rules before posting promotional content
- Remove inactive or irrelevant groups from your lists
- Start with groups where you have posted manually before
- Keep list sizes manageable (10 to 20 groups per campaign is a good starting range)
