RSS Campaigns#
RSS campaigns watch a feed URL and automatically post new items to your selected Facebook groups. Good for blogs, news sites, or any source with an RSS feed.
Create an RSS campaign#
- Go to RSS Campaigns in the dashboard
- Click New RSS Campaign
- Enter the RSS feed URL
- Select target groups (or a saved list)
- Set sleep between groups
- Start the campaign
PilotPoster checks the feed every 5 minutes for new entries.
How posting works#
When a new feed item appears:
- Backend extracts title, description, and link
- Formats the post text from the feed data
- Sends post commands to the extension for each group
- Waits the sleep interval between groups
- Logs each result
Only new items trigger posts. Already-seen entries are skipped.
Sleep between groups#
Set the same sleep interval as regular campaigns. When a new feed item arrives, PilotPoster posts to all groups with the configured delay between each.
For feeds that publish multiple items quickly, posts queue up and process in order.
Post formatting#
RSS posts typically include:
- Feed item title
- Description or excerpt
- Link to the original article
You can customize the post template depending on your campaign settings.
Campaign states#
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| pending | Created but not started |
| running | Actively monitoring the feed |
| paused | Temporarily stopped |
| failed | Error in monitoring or posting |
Pause a campaign anytime from the RSS Campaigns page. Delete stops monitoring permanently.
Logs#
Each RSS post gets its own log entry under RSS Logs. Check here to confirm posts went out and see any errors.
Tips#
- Test with a low-traffic feed first
- Use spintax in post templates if you customize the text
- Set reasonable sleep intervals (5+ minutes for multiple groups)
- Pause campaigns when you go on vacation or do not want auto-posts
Facebook page monitoring#
If you want to repost content from a Facebook Page (not an RSS URL), use Facebook Page Monitoring instead.
