Chrome Extension#
The PilotPoster Chrome extension connects your browser to Facebook so scheduled campaigns can run. Without it, posts cannot go out.
Install PilotPoster from the Chrome Web Store
Install#
- Go to app.pilotposter.com and sign in
- Open Settings or the extension setup prompt
- Install from the Chrome Web Store
- Pin the extension: click the puzzle icon in Chrome's toolbar, then pin PilotPoster
What the extension does#
- Connects to the PilotPoster backend over WebSocket
- Uses your active Facebook session to post on your behalf
- Fetches your group list when you click Fetch Groups
- Executes post, comment, and RSS monitor commands from the backend
PilotPoster never stores your Facebook password. It uses tokens from your logged-in browser session.
Requirements#
- Google Chrome (Chromium browsers may work but are not officially supported)
- Chrome must stay open while campaigns run
- You must be logged into Facebook in the same browser
- Only one extension tab should be active at a time (prevents duplicate posts)
Connection status#
The dashboard shows whether the extension is online. A green status means the WebSocket connection is live and campaigns can execute.
If status shows offline:
- Confirm the extension is enabled at
chrome://extensions - Open Chrome and log into Facebook
- Click the PilotPoster extension icon to wake the connection
- Refresh the dashboard
Fetching groups#
Click Fetch Groups in the dashboard. The extension pulls every Facebook Group you are a member of and sends them to PilotPoster.
Groups refresh automatically on a schedule you set in Settings. You can also trigger a manual refresh anytime.
Troubleshooting#
Extension not detected#
Confirm it is installed and enabled at chrome://extensions. If it is missing, install it from the Chrome Web Store. Refresh the dashboard. Make sure you are using Chrome, not Safari or Firefox.
Groups list is empty#
Log into Facebook in the same browser. Click Fetch Groups again. If groups still do not appear, check that you are actually a member on Facebook.
Campaign stuck on pending#
The extension is likely offline. Open Chrome, click the extension icon, and confirm the dashboard shows online status.
Posts fail with login errors#
Your Facebook session may have expired. Log out and back into Facebook, then retry the campaign.
